Here at the studio we have been getting our usual calls about upcoming class availability. I am currently teaching the last 8 week class that will be held at our present location on Spadina before making our big move into the new space in Roncesvalle. Fortunately, we have been receiving enough interest to continue listing our one day workshops on Saturdays up until we move. If you are at all interested do not hesitate to sign up!
The class that I am teaching is the 8 week Intermediate...

More pictures of student work coming your way!
This is my first time teaching the 8 week Enamel class and I am excited about all the samples and finished pieces my students have been creating. I am looking forward to seeing what they are going to be making for their final project, which they will be starting soon and completing in a couple of weeks. I’ll be sure to post the finished creations!

This week was the start of two classes that I am teaching. To the left is the beginnings of all the carved wax pieces from the Introductory and Intermediate Casting class. They will be finishing their carved waxes next Wednesday, then in the following week we will be casting them in sterling silver. I’m always really excited for casting classes because students that are new to jewellery can create something more complicated than they realized right off the bat. I will have to be diligent...

Ciao!
Yesterday evening was my last night teaching and today is my last day working in the studio until the new year so I thought I should touch base through the blog and update with a couple pictures of student work.
I just finished teaching the 8 week Resin class, the students ran a little wild and helping them along with their projects was exciting. It was a prerequisite for the class that you had experience in fabrication and/or casting so that the students could work on creating...

A while back in March Steve and Jenn were a part of my Introductory to Casting class. They were determined for their final project to make their own Wedding Bands. After the first project I knew that they were both more than capable to take the leap and cast in gold. They both carved the rings that the other would wear and they ended up with very unique and personal designs. It was such a joy working with Jenn and Steve, they are both talented and creative and I was happy to be a part of...

I’ve had just over a week to recover from our Anniversary Party, it was a blast! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up for a drink, snack and chat with all the goldsmiths of Jewel Envy. It was exciting having all the goldsmiths together at one time since we recently became a full studio! It was especially exciting for me because I have been here since the studio opened and so much has changed as the studio has grown as I too have grown as a goldsmith, it’s enough to get me...

Ah, the sound of holiday music is everywhere. I have to admit, it drives me more than a little bit crazy. It’s just so catchy it gets stuck in your head and I will be humming “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” to myself until March now that I’ve heard it once. Alrighty, with the holidays approaching and even though I know it has been mentioned and I don’t want to be knocking everyone on the head over and over with it our Anniversary Party here at Jewel Envy is quickly approaching. It only...

Ciao!
Alexis here to make a post to the newly created blog on our website. I’ve gotta say I’m super excited about blogging on a group site because everyone checking into the blog gets to read blurbs by all the different jewellers that are working here at Jewel Envy – different points of view all centered around creativity, woohoo! (no really – I think this is going to be super awesome…) It’s also got me giddy about all the possibilities of taking and posting process shots of my work...
